Spring Break 2016

We drove down to Gulf Shores, Alabama for spring break this year.  Travel time is approximately 13 hours with stops and no traffic.  On our way down we stopped in Kentucky, but on our way home we drove in one day.  The kids do pretty well in the car that long, but then they have lots of toys to keep them busy.

We stayed in the same condo complex as last year, just one floor up this time.  It was chilly the first part of the week, but the sun felt good and then it warmed up for a few days.  The kids really enjoyed the Navy Museum in Pensacola, FL and getting to see the Blue Angels practice one day.  Overall a good trip and we can't wait to go back!

Whoa! Time flies!

Can't believe it's been months since I made a post!  I will do my best to keep it brief and hit the highlights of the past few months.  The pictures below are not necessarily in order, so bear with me!

We had a more mild winter so it only snowed a few times --- yay!   Erin enjoys her gymnastic class that we go to once a week, although it will end in a couple months.  We enjoyed Christmas at the Rummels, then the Jacksons and finally made it home for Christmas morning.  By far, Adam's favorite present is his combine.  Although the biggest surprise Christmas morning was when the kids (boys mostly) didn't wake Andy and I up -- they let us sleep.  AND they wanted breakfast before opening presents.  What??  We were stunned, but happily so. Hopefully they'll do it again next year!

This winter the church in Mentone hosted a pine wood derby and anyone could enter.  So the kids and I made some cars to race.  It was our fist experience with those cars, but they seemed to have fun with it.  We also went to a Purdue basketball game on StarWars night.  So there were many characters walking around the arena you could get your picture with.  The kids (and Andy) loved it!

Spring has come a bit early and it feels good to be outside.  Hard to believe that school will be over before we know it.  Adam is really picking up reading and Alex has improved his reading skills greatly over the last 4-5 months.  And Erin is patiently waiting for preschool  next year.  :-)
