Sorry, but this post won't have pictures in it. I will get to it hopefully in the near future! But I thought I better fill you in on the happenings of the last 2 weeks.
The last two weeks have been crazy busy and have not quite gone as planned. Two weeks ago today, the boys and I traveled to California with my parents. (Andy was to fly on Friday after work.) But Andy didn't make his flight. The weekend before we were all to leave, Andy came down with the flu. I was working that weekend and trying to get us all ready to go. Alex had had the flu a week or so before, so I was a bit annoyed at our situation (Andy not being able to help with the boys). In fact, he was so sick on Sunday, I called Mom at 4:30 in the morning and asked if she could come watch the boys while I worked and Andy slept. She made the hour and a half drive and stayed with us until I got home. Andy was still feeling a bit sick to his stomach, but felt better after sleeping. He went to work the next day while I hurriedly cleaned and started getting organized to pack. Andy's mom, Donna, came Monday night and stayed on Tuesday so I could pack (and she could see the boys before they left). Well, Andy was still hurting when he got home from work on Tuesday night and agreed we'd better have it checked out.
Long story short, he had his appendix removed (which had burst) at 4am on Wednesday, I flew out with the boys and my parents at 3:30pm that same day. Donna graciously stayed for the next few days and took care of Andy and the house. I thank God she was there! I don't think I've ever made a tougher decision when I left my husband in the hospital to fly 2000 miles away! God's timing is perfect. Since we did fly out, we left Andy a quiet house to rest and recover. When we returned, Andy was working full days and feeling normal.
It was definitely NOT the vacation that Andy or I had planned. But I guess now we can plan another one later in the year! Or at least I hope so. :)
Pictures of our trip to CA will be coming in the near future....!!

Flying a kite and playing in the sprinkler
These pictures are from Memorial Day. Nana and Papa came for the day. Alex was eager to show Papa his kite. It was super hot and humid out, but Alex ran all over the back yard to fly that kite (Papa too!). Then to cool off, we ran thru the sprinkler. And of course, you have to have a snack too! Good thing we have a little strawberry patch----makes for a perfect snack!

Sunglasses
Adam is slowly learning to crawl. At the moment, he tends to go backwards when he gets up on his hands and knees. But he still manages to move around and get to things he wants. :)
I bought Alex some sunglasses. He kept trying to wear mine (as you will see a few pics down!).
These are Thomas the Train. Alex looooves Thomas. As you can see, his favorite way to wear them is on top of his hat. :)

Fishin'
Ok so this first picture is not "fishing!" Nana and Papa gave Alex a rocking horse for...well, just because! He's still getting used to it, so has ridden it a little bit. He mostly likes to put on Andy's cowboy hat. (But I didn't get a good picture of him with it on.) The hat is huuuge on him, so he doesn't wear it for long because it falls off! Adam is scared of the horse. If you put him on it, he doesn't cry right away, but has this scared wide-eyed look that says "Get me off!".
So here are the fishin' pictures! Alex has a thing for fishing, even though he's never actually been fishing before. He used to go "fishing" in my flowers with a stick, in a bucket, or well, anywhere! He'd just say "Me fishin' Mom". Well, I made him some fish out of foam and magnets. He helped me color them with markers, and then we found a stick and some string...

The toolbox is always needed for just about everything!
Oh, and this week, Adam is starting to crawl! This past week has been just inching forward like an inch worm. But today he's gone from belly to a sitting position (a first!) and has actually crawled a few steps toward Daddy! (another first) So it wont be long until I'm chasing him around the room. The trip to California (10 days!) could be extra fun with two mobile boys. :)
Memorial Weekend
I had to work the holiday weekend, but had the actual holiday off. But we sent Alex off to stay at Mimi and Pop's house for the weekend. He thoroughly enjoyed it. They brought him back on Sunday afternoon, and when they said goodbye to leave, so did Alex! He had every intention of going back to Mimi's house. In fact, every time we got in the car this past week, Alex would ask, " Go Mimi's house?" :)
I bought Alex a $1 kite from Walmart this week. He insisted we try it out even though there was NO wind. So he would run around the yard to make it fly a little. After running around in 90 degree weather, he was pretty hot. So we hooked up the sprinkler...
Adam thinks folding sheets is lots of fun...or at least playing with them!
