Asilomar 2009

About half of our time in California is spent at Asilomar which is a state conference ground near Monterey Bay. The Mowell family spends the days at the beach, playing in the volleyball court sand, eating, and hanging out in the big room we all use like a living room. I can't describe how much Alex loved having other kids to play with...especially boys! The Barron family has 4 boys, 3 of which played with Alex like he was the 5th. :) We did have a couple days of sunshine, so we made sure to be at the beach for those times. The waves were huge this year and the water just as cold as usual. Once we got Alex's feet wet, we could barely keep him out of the water! I can't wait for next year....it could be interesting with all the kids!

Alex took this picture!

California Trip

We've spent the past week or two in California in the San Francisco Bay area. These first pictures are in Santa Rosa at the Jackson's. It was a pretty hot day while we were there, but it was cool under the big oak tree. Alex had fun playing with a bucket of water, rose petals, and bubbles. The last few pictures are in Redwood City at the Mowell's. Alex liked to help weed in the garden, go for wagon rides, and take walks to the park to play with other kids.

At a vista point overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. Sorry, the fog was over the bridge this year, so no pics.

Phil and Alex are picking apricots. Alex did eat a number of them and seemed to enjoy them alot! Although as you can see below, he liked to throw them too. :)

End of Spring

Here's a few pictures of the begining of summer. Some friends gave us a go-cart and Alex loves to go for rides! We also had kittens this spring, and Alex enjoyed giving them food and keeping track of them. As always, Alex plays with water constantly and loves to go for rides around the yard in his wagon or stroller.

Alex and the Wii

Alex found Duck Hunt on the Wii very exciting, as you can see!

It's going to be a....

We are going to have another boy in September! My first thoughts were "If I can barely keep up with one, how am I going to handle two!?" But then I remember my cousin Carroll. If she can handle four boys, I can surely survive two! :)

(Note: The original title of this post was "Double Trouble on the way!", but Andrea made a good point and NO, I am not having twins! Thus the new title!)

The pictures to follow are in no particular order, but all were taken in April. It was sooo nice to have warm weather for part of the month so we could go outside and play! We bought Alex some cheap-o Crocs at Walmart. And as you can see below, he had no problem breaking them in.

He's testing out the new shoes in some mud he made by dumping the bucket. They passed. :)

Alex doesn't really have any baby fat on him....so he looks just like a little boy! Especially when he's wearing shorts!

Alex has too many facial expressions to catch on camera. They are hilarious but too quick to ever catch, especially the eyebrows! The one below is a pretty frequent one....it shows up alot when he's playing. :)
This is his "kiss"!

This is one of my favorite photos.

Alex loooves his pets. This is Lilly, our 'Mama kitty'. She just had kittens a week or so ago. Alex loves them to death. But he's very gentle and pets them with one finger.
I can't remember if Puddy has made it on the blog. He's our 90 lbs Golden who is a great dog.

I tried to get him to pose for a picture....
Helping feed the kitties.
Alex wants to make sure the baby kittens are ok. (Yes, that's a dog house.)

Here's a few new pictures for your viewing pleasure. These were taken in March before it really got warm enough to go outside a whole lot! As you can see, he loves to help mom cook and Playdough is fun too. I will make another post soon, I hope. We have an ultrasound on Thursday and hope to find out if we are having a boy or girl in September!
