May 2012

Our May just flew by.  Here's how it looked: Erin had her 6 mo doctor check up, my grandparents and uncle flew in from California, I took the kids up north for visits to both our parents, we drove to Ohio for my brother's wedding, my grandparents came to our house for a visit on their way to the Indy airport, and we got rid off all 4 our kittens in one day!  Whew!  And that's not including the trip to California we are about to make in a few days (that's technically June).  Sooo, here's a few pictures of all that craziness.  Being in the wedding, I wasn't able to take any pictures.  I just flat out didn't have the time!  Hopefully my dad got a few that I can borrow and post sometime. :)

These guys made Adam cry when they talked.  It was so loud!

 Chopping hay with Pop
Alex has his headphones on so it wont be so loud.

A friend is helping Wayne plant beans since his is broke.

Time to blow the hay into the silos.
Too bad something broke and they only got one wagon done.

Adam had to have a turn riding something!

Alex using the hydrolics.... he just read a book about it.

At the Jackson's playing in the sand with Bruce.  I think Bruce had about as much fun as the boys building the walls with extra stones.   : )

Grass is planted, but needs watered alot.

These pics are back at the Rummel's for Memorial weekend (after wedding in Ohio).   It was nice to see Nat, Jeremy, Kelli and Pete.  But it was hot!  All our friends with pools had other plans for their weekend, so we got a little pool and a fun sprinkler to run through.   Oh, and water balloons.  Those are always a hit.

Spring 2012

Alex loves his little sister!

Becky--Kristina--Emily
My college roommates.  Well, all but one. :)
It was Kristina's 30th bday and her husband arranged a surprise party for her.   It was a nice evening of good food, friends, and no kids!

The boys spend countless hours playing on our dirt pile.  I feel a little hillbilly-ish with a weed-grown pile of dirt in our front/side yard.  But the boys love it!  And eventually it will be covered in watermelons again this year.

 Lookin' good!

I made the boys vests and ties for Phil and Chelsey's wedding.  It'll be here before we know it!

We made airplanes out of popsicle sticks and cloths pins. Who knew the boys would spend hours playing with them!?

Oooo!  Tractor!

Rollerskating in Logansport for a cousin's bday party.

After skating for a while, the kids headed to the blowup bouncy toy.

Alex is about to tackle the green cone thing.

We've been busy busy busy this spring.  We finally got a net enclosure for our trampoline, so the boys have been jumping alot more lately.  It's so nice to be able to let them jump without worrying that they'll fall off (Adam mostly).   They also spend lots of time in the creek playing on a sand bar and digging in the water or throwing rocks into it.  Puddy likes it too because he can stand in the water and get cooled off while they play.
Alex has been trying to whistle at Puddy lately.  However, he can't whistle.  So he does his best impression of the sound and just says "hoot" instead.  Yes, hoot.  It took Andy and I a few times to figure out what he was doing.  He would say, "Hoot!"  "Hoot!  Puddy come here!"  Of course Puddy ignores him and so Alex hangs his head a little and says to us, "Puddy just won't listen to me, Daddy.   I called him, but he just wont come!"   We also signed Alex up for preschool in the fall.  He's very excited about it.  It will be interesting to see how it goes since he wont know anyone there and none of his friends will be there.
Adam loves to sing.  He breaks out in song all day long.  His favorites lately are 'Deep and Wide' (with all 3 verses!), 'This is the Day', 'God is so Good', and 'The Bumblebee Song'.  There's others, but those are the ones he usually breaks out singing, complete with motions and/or dancing.
Erin is starting to be a bit more active in her movements and voice.  She's started solid food and so far loves it.  She hasn't rolled over yet, but that's partly my fault.  She doesn't spend alot of time on her back.  She's usually in her excersaucer or in the carrier that I wear on me.  She loves to go shopping because I put her in the carrier and we just go, go, go!
We planted potatoes in the garden a while ago, and they've just started to come up.  I took the boys out to show them and Alex exclaimed, "Wow! Mom, look at all these potatoes!"   I said,"No honey, those are weeds.  The potatoes are over here," and I pointed him to the correct area.  :)

Beans and Donuts

The past two months have flown by and have been fairly uneventful. We've enjoyed a warmer than usual winter so we even got to play outside a few days in January. The boys are learning to love their little sister more and more. And she gives them the best smiles. We had a bit of a rough Feburary, we've been sick pretty much all of it except for a few days. So we are looking forward to March. :)

I was cleaning the cubboards and found some really old dried split peas, lentils and beans. So we decided to do some art with them. And then we used the leftovers for construction play.

Finger painting
So Adam wanted donuts. I thought, how hard could it be to make them? A little online searching, a whole lot of Crisco, and viola! Home-made donuts! It only took two batches for me to get the hang of it. I'm not saying they're like the ones in the store, but Adam loved them.

Alex was on his way outside with Daddy to look for bugs. He was fully equiped with magnifying glass, coat, and glasses. I had to take a picture. :)

Photo shoot

So we had a friend of ours take some pictures of the kids this weekend. Instead of posting some of the pics on my blog, I'll just put the link to his blog for you to see them. Brian Powell is who did them and I love how some of them turned out! So check it out.
